There are some good CSS web design books out at the moment and another one is about to hit the shelves. CSS Mastery: Advanced Web Standards Solutions is written by Andy Budd who is a well-known web standards/usability/CSS consultant/expert.
Should be a good read then….

The sample chapter download is very good and discusses CSS layout techniques including fixed, liquid and elastic layouts.
