We have recently designed a new website for Turner Security Systems. The company operates from a base in Cranleigh, Surrey, and installs all types of electronic and physical security including intruder alarms, CCTV, gate automation, and access control systems, throughout Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire and London.
The new website is intended to provide a more modern Internet presence and be very search engine friendly and we certainly think it's an improvement over the previous version in this respect.
One of the differences between modern CSS layouts and the tables-based layouts of a few years ago is that the page code is a lot more streamlined. The Turner Security Systems website pages all weigh in at less than 6 kb [excluding images and associated linked files like style sheets]. Recently, I was looking at a similar website built with tables that contained many presentational elements in the mark-up. In this case, the pages were around 15-20 kb each.
Whilst this may not seem like a big difference in the overall scheme of things, I certainly believe that more modern, streamlined code is a lot better for search engines.
